The Underpainting Collective: School of Drawing and Painting is a cooperative atelier dedicated to preserving classical realist art techniques while fostering a diverse and inclusive community of artists. Through our programs, we aim to create a space where artists of all ages and skill levels can learn, grow, and thrive, while also using our art to critique and comment on society. Our mission is to empower artists to produce meaningful and impactful work that reflects their unique perspectives and styles, while also supporting the development of emerging and experienced artists alike. By carrying on the legacy of the Atelier School of Classical Realism, we hope to create a lasting impact on the art world and our community, while also ensuring a sustainable future for realist art in the Bay Area and beyond.
